Motherhood has this element of unifying women regardless of their age, race, religion and creed. Since pregnancy alters everything in a woman's life, it becomes easier to relate to other women who went through the same ordeal. But what we forget a lot of times is the fact that pregnancy or motherhood can be a pretty isolating experience too.
Even if others around us have similar experiences that doesn't mean they are going to understand your struggles as a parent. This is not to say that no one is ever going to understand you. It is to reiterate the point that people can only understand you to a certain extent. That does not invalidate everything you go through. Validation is something that should be rooted from within rather than outsourced. Conflict of opinions is inevitable in our world.
